My name is Susan Fowler. I'm a writer based in the San Francisco Bay Area. In September, I will be joining The New York Times as their technology opinion editor.

I previously worked at Stripe as the founding editor in chief of Increment (which Kara Swisher has dubbed "The New Yorker of Silicon Valley"). Before that, I worked as a software engineer at various companies in Silicon Valley.

As one of the "Silence Breakers", I was TIME's Person of the Year. The Financial Times also chose me as their Person of the Year in 2017. In 2018, I was awarded a Webby for Person of the Year. I've been profiled by Maureen Dowd in the New York Times, and have appeared on the cover of Politico magazine, the cover of TIME magazine, as well as on lots of lists, including: The Recode 100Vanity Fair's New Establishment ListThe Politico 50Fortune's 40 Under 40Marie Claire's New Guard List, the Bloomberg 50, the Upstart 50, and more.

I love all things computer science, math, physics, and philosophy. I live in Berkeley, California, with my amazing husband Chad (CEO and Founder of Rigetti Quantum Computing) and our daughter Seymour.
